Tadoba Tiger Reserve

My family is all about wildlife

My family and I went to the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve on 7th May 2023 and stayed for 3 days at an epic hotel called The Tadoba Jungle Camp, the food there was epic.

Day 1, 7th May 2023

On the 7th we landed at Nagpur airport and went to Tadoba by cab, we reached the hotel in time for our first safari starting at 4:00pm, the safari was three hours long but surely worth it!

As soon as we reached the gypsy at Devada gate, the driver raced through the forest as he was trying to get to a… TIGER!

We reached to see a TIGRESS named Sonam cross the road right in front of us.

But that’s not all.

“So far so good”, we thought, The tigress had just disappeared into the forest.

We took a quick tour till we arrived at a lake, and on the other side of the lake was a large male tiger named Taro. Taro was quite far away and my pictures weren’t the greatest. The tiger was doing nothing but sleeping, we watched it for an hour. At this point I was so bored of tigers.

I wanted to go back to the hotel because I was wet and cold, and bored and sleepy as it had rained in this 1 hour of watching Taro. All he did was lift his head yawn and sleep again. We took a tour to re boost my spirits and when we came back Taro hadn’t budged. Soon it was time to leave the forest.

No doubt it was an awesome first day!

Day 2, 8th May 2023

On 8th we woke up very early in the morning for the 5:30am safari at Agarzari gate. The hotel had packed us sandwiches and lemonade to take with us in the safari. At first there was no movement in the forest, a little while later at a water hole was a big male tiger named Shambu. He was moving a little in the water and after a few minutes he started climbing out. He was walking into a lake. Shambu soon reached the other side of the lake and walked of into the woods.

The same night, we went to Junona gate. At 7:30pm we entered the forest it was pitch dark and cicadas were humming loudly everywhere. Our guide had a huge torch to search for animals with, it was scary to not be able to see our surroundings. I was sort of lying down on my dad while my brother was doing the same on my mom. The sky was clear that night and was packed with stars, it was so beautiful. It wasn’t possible to take any pics as there was no light. We saw a leopard moving in the distance, It was quite far away and I would not count this as a sighting. We were waiting for the leopard to come out near a forest guard’s house. On the house’s fence was a garden snake which the guard was trying to remove. This was a fun sight. On the way back to the hotel we say fireflies around a big tree. It was a memorable night. We reached the hotel at 10:00 pm ate dinner and fell fast asleep. “Good Night”.

Day 3, 9th May 2023

This was the third day of our stay. I woke up a little late in the morning and we went for breakfast. We were free till a little after lunch as we only had one evening safari planned. After breakfast we went to explore the the hotel ground. There were a few cycles kept for the ones staying at the hotel, I wanted to ride one so my Mom and I took one each and my Dad and Brother walked and ran behind us. The hotel had a few ponds and bridges. It was fun to ride around!

The safari was starting at 4:00 and we were all ready to go! I was excited as this was our last safari.

On the safari a lot after we entered the forest, we got to see Taro walking around a lake. We had to chase him quite a bit, but after a little chase we got to see him.

We could not see him cross the road in front of all the lined up gypsys but we got to see him walkaround for a bit!

This was the end of our last safari.

We ate snacks, had fun, ate dinner and slept at the hotel for the last time.

IT WAS A GOOD LAST DAY!

Day 4, 10th May 2023

The next day we ate breakfast at the hotel and then had to check out. After checking out we took a long cab ride to Nagpur Airport. From here we had a flight to Bangalore, which was delayed by 30mins. We waited in a place with nice lounge chairs and a small play area which was super fun, even though I was a little big for it.

The flight back was good! We landed on time and this was the end of my awesome journey!
